may brought fields and fields
of yellow. out our back door, out our front gate, wherever we drove, it was there: happy, joyful, glorious. for me, i have now determined that yellow is the color...of hope.
we don't have a permanent guest
last week a 16 year old guest
was here with us who's been having a very hard time. she told us, "you know what, in these past two days being here, it's the first time in 3 months that I haven't cried and broken down and called my therapist." God certainly is a God of wonders. it truly is a privilege to see Him at work right in front of our eyes.
our last permanent guest,
who i have referred to as Sonshine, is still experiencing MORE from Jesus than she ever hoped for or imagined. she returned home and was able to stun her family and friends with the radical change of her heart and life. however, the Lord is continung to stun her. He has provided her with a perfect job, and with fellowship and ways to serve, that are life-giving. on Tuesdays she is part of a women's Bible study, on Wednesdays she is serving as a leader at her church's highschool youth group, and on Thursdays she is leading her own Bible study, interestingly enough, with a group of young women that i used to lead. pretty amazing. she told me, "me and Jesus, we're a pretty good team!" crazy good stuff!
next weekend,
June 1-3, we are hosting our first women's retreat here at the property. for years, it has been a secret dream of mine to speak at a women's retreat--never did i think it would happen in my own home! i've invited the women from our church, and any other women interested in coming...and...they're coming! my husband and children will go for a weekend away for lots of fun and daddy bonding, and the two houses will be packed with women.
our theme is
Get Deep. i am wanting for all of us to Get Deep in the things of God...in His Word...and in fellowship with one another. we will be studying the desert...the garden...good soil...and how to be rooted deeply in Christ. we will be spending some time getting our hands dirty, as well, as we work in the garden together: weeding, and preparing soil, in order for us each to plant something of beauty. i am really, really excited!
if you are so led,
and finally,
something beautiful. something really, really sweet. right in the middle of the yellow fields being in full bloom, our mama kitty sarah gave birth to five kittens. with the loss of our kitten Hope, these darlings have brought us much joy. we are planning on giving two to a family in our church, and to keep three, and to name them Little, Bo, and Peep, after Hope's nickname (Little Bo Peep).
thank you
for being part of what the Lord is doing here! to know that as i write, that you are on the other side caring enough to read it, means so much to me, and to us. your support is sincerely appreciated.
have hope!
