for my recent 40th birthday, one of my dear friends sent me a surprise package in the mail, which included some facial products that i consider almost prophetic. let's just say the timing was perfect for a little extra hope. who doesn't need it?
now, every morning after i brush my teeth and wash my face, and every night after i do the same, i put on a little hope. and as i look myself in the mirror and stroke this fresh smelling hope over my face, this comes to mind, every time:
i'm putting on hope.
i'm putting on hope.
it kinda makes me smile.
on the inside, i mean.
i say it was the perfect timing, because i'm finding that in this journey of having hope--having wild hope moreso--that it's not so easy. when you're dreaming big and expecting bigger and well, you're still waiting for the unseen hope you're hoping for...it's hard. really hard sometimes.
and over this past week when i've put on my twice daily hope, i've been grateful for it, as i've felt,
this is about as much hope
as i can muster right now.
hope's not brimming out of my being or shouting out of my lungs, but here i am, nevertheless--putting it on.
day by day. night by night.
the Word tells us to
put on truth...
put on peace...
put on love...
put on faith...
and even to put on, as a helmet,
the hope of salvation (1 thess 5:7)
as much as i am able, i'm going to keep
putting on h o p e.

to the hope we profess,
for He who promised is faithful."
